It’s time for the second and final episode in our two-part series on the circular economy in India. Last week we were joined by a special guest host, Lucyl Staub to learn about the current state of India and the circular economy. This week, Lucyl returns to guide us through conversations with experts to discover more about the future of circular economy in India. As part of looking ahead, Lucyl also investigates the off-grid solar industry in India, looking at how to encourage the repair, reuse, and re-manufacturing of off-grid solar panels.

- Ulhas Parlikar
Ulhas Parlikar is a global consultant in the areas of Waste Management, Circular Economy, Policy Advocacy, Alternative Fuels & Raw Materials and Co-processing. He has 36 years of experience and worked in Hindustan Unilever Ltd., National Peroxide Ltd. and ACC Limited and superannuated as Director of Geocycle Business. He has been leading from CII the drive of utilizing wastes as resources in Indian Cement Industry through co-processing.
- Archana Datta
Ms. Archana Datta has recently joined United Nations Environment Programme as Project Coordinator for Switch-Asia Regional Policy Advocacy Coordination (RPAC) in India. She has over 10 years of diversified experience on mainstreaming and capacity building in Circular Economy, Life Cycle Management, and climate change mitigation. Before joining UN Environment, she was working with India’s apex industry association FICCI as Deputy Director - Quality Forum, advocating and mainstreaming use of science based tools and approaches for business decision making.
Archana holds Masters in Environment Management and has undergone the executive education course in Climate Change economics and Governance at London School of Economics. She is also a certified trainer on GHG Protocol Product standard on Life Cycle Assessment and certified lead auditor on ISO 14001, Environment Management System standard.
- Yogesh Bedi
Mr. Yogesh Bedi is a Steel Industry veteran and has over 30 years of experience in the industry. He has sported many hats in the functions of Engg. & Projects, Marketing & Sales, Strategy & Business Transformation , Finance & Business Analysis . He is a certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt & a Theory of Constraints Expert. He is currently pioneering the Steel Recycling Business in India for Tata Steel.
- Rajat Batra
Rajat is passionate about empowering enterprises to do better with less and work towards sustainable growth. He is co-founder and technical lead at SUSTENT Consulting (and STENUM Asia) in training, consultancy, audit and implementation support for enterprises. He has been actively practicing Resource Efficient Cleaner Production at various levels for over a decade having undergone extensive training on sustainable development in Europe. He is also developing strategies for enterprises to make a transition towards the circular economy. With over 20 years of experience managing manufacturing operations, also as an entrepreneur, he brings to his consulting work, a deep understanding of the issues and challenges businesses face.
