CHALMERS UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY 1       A report from recent work In the Loop & Its Role in Circular Economy Education Chalmers University of Technology is an engineering university located in Gothenburg, Sweden. Since 2015, In the Loop has been used in courses as part of the Production Engineering master’s program to encourage students to reflect on material scarcity and problem solving. In order to capture the impact resulting from its use, an empirical research study was carried out to evaluate the game as a boundary object for teaching circular economy concepts in engineering education. A Game to Support Systems Thinking The case study findings showed In the Loop was especially successful at conveying why moving towards a circular economy is important from a resource perspective. Students actively took a systems perspective when discussing resource extraction, usage, business aspects, and disposal.
